It is now thirty-five years since the Grafton Community College was established and, over these years, conducting an array of leisure and accredited courses to suit the needs of Grafton and the Clarence Valley Community.

To provide an open, welcoming and flexible environment for adults to engage in lifelong learning to improve their knowledge, skills and quality of life.

For thirty-three years the main goal and objective of the Community College is to provide educational opportunities for adults to develop their abilities, enrich their knowledge and to provide an open, welcoming and flexible environment for adults to engage in lifelong learning to improve their knowledge, skills and quality of life.

The Grafton Community College has had three major name changes.

In 1976 it began as a branch of The Northern Rivers College of Advanced Education (CAE).

In 1981 it was known as The Clarence Learning Unit (CLU).

In 1994 it changed to Adult and Community Education Inc. (ACE).

In 2003 it changed to The Grafton Community College Inc. (as it is now known).

Grafton Community College has formed a partnership between the Government and Community organisations. The Government provides some funding for infrastructure and some support services. In exchange the Community organizations provide adults with access to relevant, affordable and effective learning opportunities.

The objectives of Grafton Community College:

  • To provide open access to learning for all adults regardless of age or previous education
  • To provide a diverse range of programs to meet expressed community needs as well as offering programs to address government priorities and initiatives.
  • Hold courses in community settings for ease of access and attendance by all members of the community, including groups with special needs.

In 2010 the Grafton Community College is excitingly going through a major revamp with funding provided by the Federal Government. This revamp aims to bring the College up to date with the latest technologies, the best facilities and the highest standard of tutors the community can provide.

The Grafton Community College would like to acknowledge the continual support given to us over these thirty-three years and thank, the business community, the committee members, the staff, the tutors, the volunteers and most important of all, the students.
